The Doctor's eyes darkened and he looked away.

Julia caught the look in his eyes and her eyes grew worried. She quickly looking for a different topic. "So are you the only one who can operate the Tardis?" she asked. He seemed to like talking about the machine so it seemed like a safe topic.

He too moved on, as if they had never had that conversation. He gazed affectionatly at the blue power centre in the middle of the control room. Its a bit complicated. Saying that only I could fly my tardis would be like saying only I could ride my bicycle. Others can do it if they know how. Although, a tardis is much harder to operate than a bicycle. Only two other people have ever flown this, one was possessed and one was just plain weird. Now! Back to business. Where do you want to go?

Julia could barely keep an incredulous expression off her face at the comment of someone being 'just plain weird'. "Go? What do you mean?" she asked.

He started shifting from foot to foot. He hated standing still.You dont want to stay here forvever, surely?

"Do you mean we can go back to my time?" Julia asked.

He grinned.We can go wherever you want. Unless...

"Unless what?" she asked nervously.

He looked at her sheepishly.Unless you don't want to come.

"Please don't leave me here!" she exclaimed. "I don't think I can handle those big green monsters or anything else that might live here." she said with a shudder. "Going back to the past sounds better than the future."

He looked at her.That's not what I meant. I meant, it's your choice whether you want to go home, or come with me to more places. You could visit the farthest reaches of the galaxy and go back to the roman empire.

Julia thought for a moment before looking at the Doctor. She barely knew him, but she felt like saying no would only fill her life with 'what ifs' so she made her decision. "If you can stand to be around me then I'll agree to go with you from time to time for a while." she told him.

He rushed towards her and picked her up off her feet with a giant hug. After setting her down he ran to the controls and began to fiddle with controls.

Julia let out a yelp of surprise and couldn't help the giggles that burst from her when he picked her up off the ground. When she was set back down she followed him over to the controls. "Where to next?" she asked.

He grinned at her, his eyes shining.You'll see.He pushed a control and the tardis started to shake and rumble.

Julia sighed and reached out to grab onto something, hoping it wouldn't be as bad as the last time.

The tardis swung from left to right. When it stopped, the doctor grinned. This was something he did with all his companions. He gestured to the door, inviting her to open it.

Julia saw the Doctor grin and sighed. She hesitantly moved towards the door and opened it.

The tardis was not on the ground. It was floating, way up in the midst of the galaxy. Lashings of black and purple were dotted with tiny white stars, while lazy planets slowly turned.

Julia stared out with wide eyes before slamming the door shut again. "H-How...?" she mumbled in shock.

He smiled.Its okay. The tardis carries an airtight bubble. You could go right outside and you would be fine.

Julia's hand stayed paused on the door as she looked back at him. "Are you positive that works for everyone other than you?" she asked.

The doctor laughed.Yes. Believe me.

Julia looked at him doubtfully before opening the door again. "Nothing's going to eat me right?" she asked as she glanced outside.

He smiled and shook his head. Nothing out there.
