Dakota walked onto the water turf. She loved the way that the water smelled, she loved everything about water

Amber heard a wolf approaching, and dropped into a crouch, raising her lip in a snarl. Then she scented Dakota, and straightened up, relaxing. She stepped onto the path, seeing the water warrior coming around the bend. The alphess stood, waiting for the other wolf to catch up.

Dakota saw the other wolf and trotted up to her."Hello, I am Dakota, I don't know if you already know that." she smirked

She dipped her head slightly. "Of course I do. I wouldn't be a very good alpha if I didn't." She turned, starting off again. The sunlight that broke through the canopy off leaves above dappled her white fur. "The camp is this way."

Dakota followed her, eager to see her new home

They reached the edge of the lake, and followed it for a little, the forest on their left, the lake on their right. Then, the forest curved away from them, and they stopped, backs to the lake, facing a clearing. It was a semi-circle, bordered by forest, and along the edge were the dens. They were either hollow mounds of earth, or rock caverns. There were 51 in all, 25 on the left, 25 on the right, and one sitting on a hill with a small, steep slope, about 6 feet tall. "This is camp. The large dens that are closest to the lake are the vacant healer dens. The one on the ridge is mine. The one to the right of mine is the Head Warriors, Rio, and you can take your pick of the rest. The lake is how we prefer to travel. Concentrate on the place you're going, which has to be a water source, and step in. If Rio tells you to do any invading of any territory, don't do it. Tell me. Sometimes he doesn't think things through." She glanced at Dakota, amber eyes shining, eyes from which she got her name. "Got it all?"

"Yes, I think I got it." she smiled at her. "Thanks" she added that in quickly

"You'll have to meet Rio in your own time. For now, we need to hunt."

"Sounds good to me!" Dakota was very happy that she would finally eat she followed her new pack leader

She trotted into the woods and along the stream. She paused, sniffing, and smiled. The smell or moose drifted from upwind. She followed it silently, creeping to the edge of a clearing and peeking through the bushes. Five moose, one with a calf, the other femal pregnant. There was a fit bull, and an old, sickly one. Ambers gaze was fixed on the old one. She flicked her tail at Dakota to circle it the other direction.

Dakota stiffened, the memory of everyone in her family dying in a moose hunt, but she didnt dare disobey, she did as she was told her mouth watering at the thought of food

The resy of the herd had started off, the big old bull hanging back. When Dakota was in position, she leapt, grabbing its shoulder. It was Dakotas job to go for the throat.

Amber let go as it went down. She gently spoke into its ear, then pulled back, the moose holding her gaze, and then nodding once. She dipped her head in respect, as the life slipped from the mooses eyes.

Dakota let go too,"what was it that you said?"

She sat. "You must thank your prey. Pay respects. They are giving up their lives so you can carry on yours. It is wrong to hunt otherwise, to just take without thanking, or even thinking of the prey." She shrugged. "I'm sure plenty of wolves think I'm a nut because of it. But I'm perfectly sane. Just not so selfish."

"It makes sense, if you didn't thank them then that is like saying their lives were worthless, am I right?"

She nodded. "And by default, yours would be too."She straightened. "Okay, now, I want you to picture the camp. Exactly as you saw it when we stood with our backs to the lake. Concentrate on it. Walk into the strem until your heads under water. Then you'll come out of the lake, in that spot." She instructed, glancing at the small river on the edge of the clearing.

Dakota nodded at her and did what she told her. She pictured the camp in her mind and walked into the water. When she opened her eyes she was standing at the camp. "Wow,"
As she stepped out of the water her eyes and aqua half moon were glowing brightly, that had never happened before when she was in the water..."strange?"

Rio growled,they were supposed to be back so they could go to the meeting. He leaped into the water and found Dakota in the sacred day dream. "Get out!!" He hauled her out of the dream. Surfacing her head above the water. He knew how dangerous it could be.

Dakota was a bit confused, but stepped onto the land.

"Oh, I'm sorry," she felt foolish, she didn't know what could happen
