Silver trotted, swiftly and silently, upstream along the river. Her silver coat shimmered in the glow of the setting sun. She was lonely, as she had been for the past year, and was determined this time to find a mate. Soon, she came across tracks in the mud. Who could have made these, she thought. She then turned and stepped around the bend to see.

Volcanic lay on the shore, his front paws toying with the water.

Silver was surprised to see another lonely wolf so soon. "Oh.. Hello there," she called in a surprised, friendly voice. "Who are you?"

He looked up, a small smile growing on his face. "Hello. I'm Volcanic."

"Oh.. Hi Volcanic. I'm Silver. What are you doing?"

"I'm.. I'm just..." What had he been doing? "Playing with the water."

"Oh, yeah, the water," said Silver casually. She grinned mischieviously as he looked away and snuck up beside him, acting still casual. Suddenly she struck the water with her front paw, splashing Volcanic in the face. She giggled so hard she fell over. "Got you!"

He laughed, rolling backwards.

Silver giggled and rolled over next to him. She playfully brushed her paw against his cheek, stretching his eyes and lips. Then she chuckled and sighed."So.... What are you doing out here all alone? I mean, are you..."
