The black Quarter Horse mare was led to the block, in with all the other retired barrel racers. She snorted, wondering what all the fuss was about. She looked around, tripping over her splint. One of the men steadied her, whispering "Sorry, Dakota." She snorted again; she finaly figured out what this was all about. She was being sold. Her owners couldn't afford a lame horse. Her owners only used Dakota in bad situations! She shook her head, she loved barrel racing. She couldn't just give up! Oh well, mabey her new owners would try to get her back in. She wouldn't be at the top, but as long as she was barrel racing, Dax was fine. The man led her into a stall, setting up a tag reading: "Dakota, Dax for short. $2,000. Lame. Champion Barrel Racer, Retired."

Indigo walked to view the horses, she stopped, noticing the lame horse.

She snorted at the human, trying her best to help her current owners.

She walked towards her. She held her hand out, a piece of sugar in her hand.

She took it, trying to be the tallest and prettiest she could.

She stroked her nose, she ran her hands down the horses legs, they were strong and sound, except for the lame one. She inspected some other areas on the horse and found everything well and good.

She stood still. She knew she would miss her owners . . . but now, mabey she could finally have a foal . . .

She turned to the owners of the horse, still petting her, "I will take her."

The owners smiled happily, and Dax whinnied, nuzzling the womans ear.

Indigo laughed, "Attah girl." She pet her muzzle.

Dax glimpsed at her old owners, smiling faintly.

"Come on girl, Lets go to your new home." She handed the money over and took the horse gently by the halter, she paused though, and walked the horse over to the owners, a chance to say good-bye.

She nuzzled the couple,then Indigo.

"You ready?" She turned, walking towards her trailer.

She followed, nickering to some of the other horses she had grown up with.

Indigo came up to the trailer door, she put the ramp down and walked the mare in. She tied the rope and walked out the side door. She put the ramp up and hopped in her car. She started it, driving slowly at first, and gently speeding up.

She snorted, fear mixing in with her exitement.

Indigo came to Mihara Horse Farm and stopped the truck. She got out, and put the ramp down.

She poked her head out, eager to find new friends.

Dancer snorted in the feild, cantering up. She instantly felt attached to the new horse in some way.

Indigo smiled, "Outcha go girl." She took the halter, leading her into the pasture. Rocky came down from the farside, he ran his muzzle along Dancer,smiling, "Hi."

She blushed, "Hello."

Dancer studied the other mare, looking carefully.

He smiled, then glanced at Dancer, "Something wrong?" he said it just loud enough so she could hear it.

"I . . . don't know. She seems familiar somehow . . . Thats it!When my brother was captured a few years ago, I followed the humans. They took him to a large barn, and I think I saw you there.

Rocky cocked his head, "Hm. Small world."

Dax nodded, "You probrally did. I was always outside training."
