Harlequin paced, sweat coating her uniquely colored coat. It was nearly time. Her swollen stomach made it harder for her to walk, so she was waddling around, licking rocks. She didn't really understand why, since this was her first foal. Pain racked through her side, and she lay down. She lifted her head, and cried out, calling for Deval.

Deval cantered to where her voice was coming from. He saw her on the ground and stopped. Had it been that long? He stood above her, managing to make his appearance comforting.

At the sight of him, she immediately felt fear, but, she gave a weak smile anyway. He didn't seem as frightening as he did in the cave. In fact, he looked a little comforting. Hello... She manage to whisper, before she cried out in pain, her head landing on the ground with a thud. Her breath quickened, and then she pushed, whinnied again.

He circled her like He did in the caves, shaking his head. He had never fathered a foal before.

Harlequin whinnied, and pushed again, the head of the small foal revealing itself...slowly. She pushed again, this time harder, and the foal began sliding onto the now wet ground. One final push, the the foal made a light thud as the rest of it's body hit the ground. Harlequin rested a moment, before lifting her head to gaze at her...their child. She nickered lovingly to the foal, who looked at her with big brown eyes. Harlequin stood, and began the process of cleaning of the baby, glancing up at Deval every few seconds. (Colt or Filleh?)

Deval didn't know what to think. He stood and watched her clean the foal and thought to himself what was he going to do?

Harlequin looked up at Deval. Well, say hello to your daughter. She said quietly, smiling. She stood, and watched as their foal tried to stand as well.

He snorted and backed up slightly. Good luck with that.

Harlequin snorted, and glared at him. Their daughter was standing by now, and had found her teats, and began suckling. Just say hi. Please. Say hi to..... Dinah. Yes. Dinah is her name. She said softly, nuzzling Dinah's rump, causing the tiny filly to squeal.


Dinah:

He shook His mane out and snorted in annoyance.

Harlequin snorted, obviously angry. Why bother make a foal, when you won't even pay attention to it? She said hotly, before herding Dinah away from Deval, and grooming her.

He stomped his foot and reared angrily, landing and bucking

Harlequin cowered, and ushered Dinah even farther from Deval. Sorry! She whimpered, fear dancing in her eyes. I didn't mean it. She whispered.

His nostrils flared. He seemed to grow twice as big and the highlights in his hair glistened.

(He's not much of a talker, is he xD)

Harlequin tried to sooth Dinah, who was starting to squeal in fear. Harlequin licked her and nuzzled her, trying calm the frightened little baby.

(nope... He likes to just let people's imagination run wild :-D)

He stood, breathing heavily and hung his head. He then swerved and galloped away, kicking dust into the air.

Harlequin snorted. The farther from you he is, the better. She murmered to Dinah, before nudging her, and the two walked out of the grove.
